Perched on a steep hillside site above the city, this completely rebuild of a 1930's cottage takes inspiration from the "floating" Case Study houses of Koenig. The use of a variety of increasingly lighter architectural elements establishes a sequence of movement from earth to sky. Atypically wide, the project utilizes a central sky-lit stair hall combined with a glass bridge to bring light deep into the center of the house and to ultimately lead users to panoramic city views. |
